Instructor Spotlight [Jessica Sweeney]

MEET [JESSICA SWEENEY] Meet Mission Fitness instructor, Jessica Sweeney. You can catch Jessica every Tuesday at 11:30a for Pilates and each Thursday at 9:45a for Core[Re]form. Jessica is a health enthusiast who has been with Mission Fitness since day one. Her specialty is reformer and mat Pilates and if you haven't already tried one of her classes - you must! You'll fall in love with her motivating approach to instruction.
Hometown? Rochester, NY [but I moved to Sebastian, FL when I was 12, so I kind of claim both].
Occupation? Stay at home mom. I was a dental hygienist/assistant/office manager prior to that.

Biggest accomplishment? Definitely my kiddos: Lyla, Grey and Harper. I have wanted to be a mother my entire life. Discovering that it would not come as easy as it does to many was a very troubling. I am thankful every day for the amazing doctors and the support of friends and family that made my dream come true. Aside from that, becoming a fitness instructor and working with the incredible Mission Fitness team is another big accomplishment. I have always wanted to share my passion for health and fitness with others and this has truly been the perfect place to do so!
Favorite thing about Mobile? My in-laws! My husband has a huge family and I'm proud to be part of it! The gorgeous oak trees in Mobile are pretty spectacular as well.
Favorite Class at Mission Fitness? Core[Re]form! The perfect combination of my two loves- reformer and mat Pilates. I love the tempo, the intensity and the opportunity the class provides. If you are unsure about a move in the beginning you get plenty of opportunity to learn and perfect. I love the camaraderie that has developed in the class as well. Everyone builds one another up - it's quite special.
What motivates you to stay consistent with your [own] workouts? HEALTH! Being kind to your body is the best thing you can do for yourself! I want to be able to run around with my children and my grandchildren some day. The power of the human body is a gift - it should be treated accordingly. Work it out, challenge it and embrace it!
What do you like to do when you’re not working out/teaching at Mission Fitness? I love to run. I know it's technically exercise, but it helps me clear my mind of clutter and I solve all sorts of problems while I'm running! Plus, I love cake. Running helps keep that love in check. My husband and I love a good DIY home improvement project as well as going to the beach - spring, summer, winter and fall!
Any tips for current or prospective members? Push yourself further than you think you can go. You'll never know you could get somewhere unless you try. Be proud of where you are today, but always strive to do better tomorrow. And, in everything, be kind and love well.
